This is the fifth sample of The Tree of Light: The Lives of the Prophets for Young Muslims available now on Amazon. This is the first volume of a three volume series with maps, pictures and paintings of important sites and Maqams related to the stories of the Prophets. This series would be an ideal source for the Tree of Prophets project featured here on our website. In this adaptation of Hajiah Amina Adil’s comprehensive history of the Prophets a sage grandfather tells the stories of the Prophets to his two adventurous grandsons who learn that the stories of the Prophets have come to life.
Hawa (r) had many children and among them were Qabil and Habil. Habil was a shepherd with flocks of sheep and Qabil was a farmer. Each of them offered sacrifices, like a gift, to their Lord, but only Habil’s was accepted. This and other jealousies between them caused enmity and Qabil killed his brother with a rock on Mt. Qasiyun in Damascus in the Cavern of Blood.
We must always remember that jealousy and bad feelings will harm us and the people we love. Qabil regretted what he did to Habil but he could not take it back. We must not be heedless ones. We must use our mind and think before we do an action, this is why Allah (s) gave us a mind.
After a life of 1,000 years Adam (a) passed away and was buried on Mt. Serendib where he fell to earth and left Paradise. In our time, we are blessed to only spend around 100 years or so away from our creator.
