This is a craft from one of our contributors.
She used popsicle sticks to make the lattice and then added sheer ribbon, string and sandal of the Prophet (s) embellishments. The bottom of the lantern is cardboard attached with a hot glue gun. She said that it is unnecessary to cut the ends of the popsicle sticks so you may skip that part.
She used flameless candles to light them up and used the multiple effect. In design when you have multiple items that are identical you can arrange them in order or scattered in the same location and they look impressive.
If you would like to see the YouTube tutorial for this craft please see this link: Popsicle Stick Lanterns.
The lanterns represent the creation of the light of the Prophet (s) that was placed within a green lamp and hung from a tree in Paradise. If you would like to read more about this event to your children please see The Light of Muhammad by Hajjah Aminah Adil.
