This is the seventy second part of our series on the 99 Names of Allah (s) for children.
Please see Physicians of the Heart: A Sufi View of the Ninety-Nine Names of Allah for more information about each name in this project if you would like to know more.
Present the lesson bellow and discuss one or some of the suggested questions.
Assist the students with ideas for the artwork for this name or ask them to make their own interpretation of the medallion provided here:
Lesson for Al Muakhkhir: The Delayer
For this medallion we chose the sirat ul mustaqim to represent the delay between now and when the souls will cross because the name Muakhkhir can mean to delay. This name can also mean that each thing manifests in perfect time or towards the source of all being. To step in to the sirat ul musatqim is to step towards the source of all being as well. The recitation of this name is for people who have trouble with the pace os life or with accomplishing goals.
Suggested discussion questions:
What are we supposed to do with our time between now and when we cross the sirat ul mustaqim?
What can we do to step towards Allah (s) before we pass away?
How do you ever had difficulty achieving a goal? How did you persevere?
We suggest you choose a space that can accommodate all the 99 Names or to fix the names to a fold out accordion book in sequence if you do not have an appropriate space available.
Please share your ideas for teaching children about the 99 Names of Allah (s).
