Sira:  Mothers

Today we reviewed a summary of who the wives of the Prophet (s) were and how they came to be part of his family.

Almost all of them were widows, some with children who needed protection and support.

The most interesting points were how the ladies were the ones who kept the written copies of the Quran and the ones who related most of the Hadith or sayings of the Prophet (s).  The importance of these ladies for the recording, preserving and sharing the wisdom of the Prophet (s) cannot be overstated.

One story shared the way that angel Jibrail (a) would visit the home of the Prophet (s) and once greeted Aisha (r).
