Today we reviewed the story of the Battle of Khaybar in the Sira of the Prophet (s).
We discussed the way that Ali (r) spared the warrior that spit on him and how that warrior accepted Islam. We talked about the merciful example of the Prophet (s) and the way that Ali (r) represented that mercy in his conduct. My son also said that it is not the example of the Prophet (s) to spit on anyone so that was another important point that Ali not only spared the warrior but that he did not spit back.
We also learned about the dream of Safiya (r) where the moon fell into her lap, meaning that she would marry the Prophet (s).
