Cuisine of the Muslim World: Malawi

This week we had a cooking class where there children learned to make Malawi.  Malawi is a Moroccan breakfast bread that is a little like a squished croissante.

The children measured the semolina flour.

The children worked the dough which took quite a lot of elbo grease.

The flattened the dough and rolled it in sections.

Then of course they ate the Malawi with the Eucalyptus honey we brought from our field trip to the honey souk.

Special thanks to guest chef Safae Idrissi for all her help leading this cooking class.  Safae is earning her masters in cultural studies and is a frequent contributor to Sirajunminra.

Please share your ideas for cooking the cuisine of the Muslim world with children.
