This week we had our first carpentry workshop guided by a carpenter from the Muslim world.
He remembers teaching his own children to make simple projects when they were young.
He decided that for our first workshop he would teach the children to make a sadaqa box.
We are very excited about this project because we are trying to find interesting ways to reinforce the values of mercy and charity with the children.
The carpenter brought precut pieces and assisted the children with the assembly of each piece.
We would like to do another workshop for painting and decorating the boxes at a later time.
If you would like to know more about teaching children about sadaqa please see our posts: SADAQA and SADAQA: GOOD DEED JAR.
Please share your ideas for teaching children about traditional crafts from the Muslim world and sunnahs like sadaqa.
