Khidr (a) and the Boat: A Fieldtrip

This week we took the boys out paddle boating.  My husband told our sons the story of Musa (a) and Khidr (a) on the sinking boat.

If you would like to read this story to your children there is a chapter concerning Khidr (a) and the boat in The Story of Moses by Karima Sperling.

My husband also explained that the boat can represent the Ego.  When the teacher puts a hole in the boat it protects the student from their bad Ego and Shaitan.

Musa (a) thought that Khidr (a)  was destroying the boat but he was really protecting the boat from the tyrant King for the benefit of the boat owner.

Many thanks to the North Hatley Marina for all their kind assistance with our outing.

Please share your ideas for teaching children about the lives of the Prophets (s).
