Dervish Dolls: Whirling

Today our little dervish doll is whirling which is supposed to represent the rotation of the earth or planets on their axis.

Creative play is another way that children can emulate this spiritual practice at their scale.  My son came up with this kind of play on his own by placing the doll on an inverted paintbrush.  I had not even thought of a way to make the doll turn but my son did.

For more information please see our article on whirling for children: Whirling Dervish.

Please share your ideas for teaching children about the spiritual practices of Islam.
