Musa: The Pharaoh’s Prayer

Tonight we reviewed the story of the contest between Pharaoh and Musa (a) to stop the flow of the Nile as a demonstration of power.

The Pharaoh won the contest because he had prayed all night to the one God while hanging from his beard.

My son was very confused about why the Pharaoh prayed while hanging from his beard.  I told him I wasn’t sure but that it seemed like the Pharaoh was trying to make a sacrifice to ask for Allah’s (s) flavor.

I then had a discussion with my son about what things we can do when we want Allah (s) to answer our prayer.  We agreed that praying all our prayers, fasting and giving Sadaqua are probably the best ways to ask for Allah (s) flavor.
