30. Illuminated Quran: The Romans

This surah asks us to think critically about history and to travel the earth and see the end of those who came before us.  It says that most of the ruins are from a people who did not believe in Allah (s).

We are told to look at these ruins and think about how these civilizations fell.

Discussion question:  when we see a city of old and fallen buildings what do you think happened to them?

Some of these ruins are from polytheists like that of Ancient Rome.  For this lesson I am planning to play a video about Ancient Rome for a little context.

Discussion question:  do you know who the Romans are?  Do you know what their ruins look like?

Image:  this image is supposed to suggest the ruins of Ancient Rome.

Please share your ideas for teaching children about the Tafseer of Quran.
